How to install the Exchange 2003 Management Tools on Windows XP and Windows Vista

Prerequisites:
Installing the Exchange 2003 Management Tools on Windows XP or Windows XP SP1 has the following prerequisites.
• Internet Information Services (IIS) snap-in.
• SMTP Service. You can disable this service after installation as only the SMTP snap-in is required.
• WWW Publishing Service. You can disable this service after installation.
• Windows Server 2003 Administration Tools Pack (Active Directory Users & Computers Etc)
Exchange System Management Tools installation:
1. Once all the prerequisites have been met insert the Exchange Server 2003 CD-ROM
2. If autoplay is not enabled locate <drive>: \setup\i386\setup.exe
3. On the Component Selection page (see Figure 1 below), do the following:
3a. Under Component Name, locate Microsoft Exchange. In the corresponding Action column, select Custom.
3b. Under Component Name, locate Microsoft Exchange System Management Tools. In the corresponding Action column, select Install
4. Click Next, and continue until finished.

Installing the Exchange 2003 Management Tools on Windows XP SP2 has the following prerequisites.

Exchange System Manager Tools for Windows Vista
You will need to install IIS, IIS Managment Console and IIS Metabase and IIS 6 Configuration and Compatability through the 'Programs and Features' Control Panel.
